vBET with mySQLi

If I turn my forum database type to mysqli in my config.php file, I get this error when viewing translated pages:

Warning: mysql_ping() expects parameter 1 to be resource, object given in [path]/includes/vbenterprisetranslator_functions.php on line 596

I turned off mysqli for now.

vBET was not tested for mysqli. Does it have any matter to use mysqli on your forum?
