In short words - this is load of your whole forum not just vBET (this file is only front controller). Tomorrow will be released vBET 3.3.0 with many performance improvements. There is many options in vBET which you can change to have better performance. See there for details

For what time period this is calculated? Servers can be more busy from time to time. So is it average value or you just hit in specific moment?
What is your CPU usage in %?
Does your pages are displayed fast? If your pages displays in acceptable time then you do not have any issue - whatever your Server Load is.

And most important issue - does vBET causes it?

First - does issue (if exists) isn't in other place - in example in vB optimization or in mysql usage. Forum can run well in some configuration, but after reaching some point it appears that it is necessary to optimize vBulletin and/or mysql.

Second - as was mentioned many times vBET takes action only during translations. Normal pages are generated using same resources. So if you notice additional usage with vBET this means that you get additional traffic to translated pages. So vBET is not making slower generation of your normal pages nor taking additional resources for those. vBET have no impact on on normal pages generation (only flags added). You get additional traffic which you didn't had before -traffic to translated pages. And when you have more traffic you must be able to handle it.

We made many optimizations in vBET 3.3.0 and vBET is really very fast! Even that, please note that translations will never made for free... This is just impossible. We will continue to optimize vBET in different aspects and still - you must be able to handle your additional traffic even if translation would take no additional resources you are still getting request which have to be handled.

Please compare times of generation normal page and translated page which was already cached - the difference is the real cost of translation.

Also - did you looked on thread about vBET performance issues? Did you blocked robots for not important pages? Please note that robots can take significant amount of your server resources if crawls too many pages in same time. Block it for translated calendars, user pages and so on. Details here:
